Emily, I loved "You've Got Mail." Nora Ephron was a genius. I'm so glad you honored and referenced her work. But more importantly, I want to thank you for your honesty. The job arena is so layered and complicated (especially as we age). Decency goes a long way, people! I, too, have felt like a loser so many times! I call it ~ falling into my well of despair. I stay in the well for a bit, then muster up the strength to crawl out and move on. I've decided I'm not falling into it anymore. I am focusing on all of my blessings and embracing the journey with a sense of humor, unknowingness, humility, grace, and strength. I appreciate your reflections and I look forward to hearing more about your new job and perspectives in future letters. And thank you for the recommendations. I can't wait to spray some mist and read Lonesome Dove!
Oh my goodness, Maryann! Thank you so much for this comment. I can so relate to the well of despair you describe. I believe I'm out of it, but I was in it for a little while. And I hope you enjoy both the face mist and Lonesome Dove!! Say hi to Clara for me! ;)
A good reminder of how little we can control, even in the life avenue (career) that we ~think~ is oh so controllable.
And thank you for the face mist rec -- my skin is peeling / shedding in the northeastern winds but so sensitive to too many product layers. Eager to try!
Thank you, Juliana! It is so interesting how we can think we have a level of control over our circumstances and relationships. It's been an eye-opening experience and a good reminder for me.
And the face mist is AMAZING! I hope it works out for you.
